Healthy Meals on the GO for the busy Bride-to-Be!

It is not as difficult as it may seem to eat healthfully, even if you are on the go a good deal of the time.  If you keep these items in stock, you can easily whip up a fast and nutritious meal in no time!

Produce Dept.

  • Bags of washed, ready-to-eat salad

  • Cut up veggies from the salad bar

  • Red potatoes

  • Sweet potatoes

  • Carrots

  • Onion

  • Garlic

  • Ginger

  • Fresh fruit in season

 

Grocery/Bakery Dept.

  • Whole wheat flour tortillas

  • Whole wheat flour pita bread

  • Corn tortillas

  • Hearty whole grain breads

  • Canned beans, preferably lower in sodium

  • Canned tomatoes

  • Pasta (try the whole grain varieties)

  • Canned low sodium, low fat chicken broth

  • Extra Virgin Olive Oil

  • Canola oil

  • Walnuts, pumpkin seeds, sunflower seeds, almonds (all healthy fats)

  • Sun dried tomatoes

  • Favorite frozen veggies

  • Quick cooking brown Rice

  • Basmati or jasmine rice

 

Dairy Dept.

  • Non fat yogurt

  • Non fat or low fat milk

  • Part skim hard cheese, i.e. mozzarella

  • Low fat cottage cheese

  • Part skim ricotta cheese

  • Real butter

  • Spectrum Spread Margarine

  • Chef Master Margarine

  • Parmesan or Romano cheese

  • Eggs (DHA Omega 3)

 

Meat/Seafood Dept.

  • Lean Canadian bacon

  • Turkey bacon

  • Turkey or chicken hot dogs

  • Salmon hot dogs (available at Fresh Fields)

  • Turkey breast

  • Low fat deli meats

  • Ground chicken and/or turkey breast
